Please join us in welcoming Sheila Leguire in the newly created position of Animal Care and Welfare Manager. Sheila has been affiliated with the APF since 2015 as a Canine Academy instructor and teacher for our weekly dog behavior and training class for staff and volunteers. Sheila is certified by the Animal Behavior College and specializes in behavior modification addressing the needs of dogs who suffer from a lack of socialization and over-reactivity.
In her new role, Sheila will be responsible for our team of animal care technicians and providing for the basic needs of the animals, assuring impeccable shelter sanitation and integrating animal enrichment, leading our behavior assessment and improvement program for both dogs and cats.
Sheila lives in Rotterdam and is from Schenectady, NY. Sheila enjoys spending time with family and friends, crafts, reading and being outdoors. Her furry family, current and past includes Taylor, Daisy and Lilly, and Buddy as well as several bunnies and fish.
