The animals we care for at the APF always need food, attention, medicine, and a clean, safe place to stay while they wait for homes of their own. You can help make their stay here more comfortable by donating items from our Wish List. Your donations allow funds budgeted for these items to be used in other important ways.

Every dog deserves a soft, comfortable place to sleep while waiting to be adopted. You can help by donating a Kuranda dog bed by clicking below.

Wish List

We no longer have a need for donated DRY cat or dog food for the animals here at the APF. Through Hills Science Diet’s shelter program, we receive all the kibble we need.
However, if you do have pet food you would like to donate to someone in need, we are collecting pet food for the Schenectady Inner City Ministry (SICM) Food Pantry program. You can either drop off donations for them here or at the Food Pantry located at 839 Albany Street in  Schenectady. For more information on this program, click here.

NEW! Just in time for the holidays, we've created a wish list through Walmart for your convenience.

Special items we are currently looking for:

  • Gift Cards through Visa, Mastercard, American Express, etc - the easiest way to make sure the animals get exactly what they need! These can be found online and at larger grocery stores.

  • NEW clip-on dog leashes

  • Galileo nylon bones in Souper (largest) size and Black Extreme Kong rubber toys (largest sizes)

  • Bil-Jac brand soft dog treats

  • New or gently used vacuum cleaner

  • NEW children's items to use as prizes for children, such as games, puzzles, art and craft kits, gift certificates for ice cream, trinkets such as key chains, notepads, stickers, cute pencils, etc. Hello Kitty or any other animal-themed goodies especially.

  • We are again having an Online Auction in the fall and are currently looking for desirable offerings like gift certificates to stores and restaurants and new or collectible items. If you have a business or something that you think would be popular, please contact Kim at 374-3944, ext. 119.

  • There will also be a Jewelry Party coming up in early February. Clean out your jewelry drawers now and bring in your unwanted fine or costume jewelry. Also, we will be collected silver and gold to be melted down, so if you have any broken or odd pieces you would like to donate, we will be happy to accept them. Any questions, please contact Kim at 374-3944, ext. 119.
